Screenwise Stories: Acting and Romance

We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day by shining a light on two beautiful couples who found love at Screenwise, Australia’s Leading Film & TV School For Actors.

In the first edition of Screenwise Love Stories, we delve into the captivating journeys of two couples who not only honed their acting skills at Screenwise but also found love amidst their artistic pursuits.

Let’s take a glimpse into their experiences and their journey both on and off the screen.

Jonah Nethercott and Poppy Bloor

The couple attended Screenwise in the Advanced Diploma program from 2022-2023, quickly forming a bond during orientation despite initially finding each other annoying, they later developed a strong connection through shared interests and laughter.

• Memorable Moments at Screenwise: We shared countless memorable moments at Screenwise, but one standout memory was our first scene together in class. I (Jonah) orchestrated a cafe meeting beforehand to rehearse lines, which turned into a delightful conversation over juice, setting the stage for our strong bond. Another cherished memory was moving in together, marking a significant milestone in our relationship and creating lasting memories.

• Memorable Date: Dinner at Amici, Cammeray.
• Future: Dream of pursuing acting careers together in Vancouver.

Ceann Bastian and Max Mohr

Ceann and Max attended Screenwise from 2021 to 2022, completing the Advanced Diploma of Screen Acting. They met on the first day at Screenwise; Ceann initially saw Max as shy and introverted but genuinely kind, while Max found Ceann beautiful but slightly intimidating until their conversation revealed her warm and kind nature.

• First Date: It was the day of shooting Showreels, I was shooting at a location which was very close to Max’s house. After shooting we met up, went for long lunch and a drive and just talked for hours.
• Memorable Date: Long lunch and drive after shooting showreels.
• First Kiss: At the Ivy during a Screenwise night out.
• Love: Max is kind and easygoing, Ceann is beautiful inside and out.
• Future: Excited to work on a friend’s film project and continue their journey together.
