Richard Lovegrove

Richard is an award winning actor having received rave reviews from his performances in numerous stage and screen productions. He has performed at prestigious venues including Belvoir Street Theatre, Seymour Centre, ANZ Stadium, Sydney Entertainment Centre and Sydney Town Hall.

Outstanding onstage performances include the Australian premier of the musical ‘REFFER MADNESS’ in which Richard performed the duel role of Jack and Jesus alongside Australia’s iconic performer, Barry Crocker (The Adventures of Barry Mackenzie); The Australian premier of the play ‘MADAME MELVILLE’ in which he was cast in the lead role/swing of Carl alongside Susie Lindeman (Howard’s End, Catherine) and as part of the comic trio on stage in Jon English’s Rock Opera ‘PARIS’, which also stared Jon English.

After studying dance and musical theatre at Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, Richard then went on to graduate from the NIDA ACTORS STUDIO and SCREENWISE, majoring in Screen Performance. He also trained as a dancer of Jazz, Tap, and Modern Contemporary and has performed at Disneyland Anaheim USA, Warner Bros. Movie World QLD, Sea World QLD, Wet’n’Wild QLD and Luna Park NSW.

On screen, Richard has featured in numerous commercials as well as educational videos, shorts and feature films (Submerged) as well as featuring in a variety of ‘behind the camera’ production assistant roles on films including ‘RAZZLE DAZZLE’ and ‘TALES OF A FISH’.

As the creator and manager of Rushcutter Entertainment, Richard was able to produce numerous theatrical experiences including ‘ALICE,’ which used rear projection lighting, stilt walking, magic, music and trapeze performance to tell the story of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Working with Salto Productions Richard wrote, directed, filmed, edited and co-produced the light hearted family orientated cooking program, ‘FEAST’, starring Monica Trapaga for international distribution.

Richard trained as an Advanced Stage Combat Fight Instructor proficient in Heavy Schlager Rapier, Transitional Rapier, Rapier & Dagger, Rapier & Gauntlet, I.33 Sword & Buckler, Long sword, Chain, Bull Whip, Gentleman’s Cane, French Small Sword and Martial Arts. He was the Fight Captain for ‘THE BEN HUR STADIUM SPECTACULAR’, co-choreographing gladiator fight sequences with Fight Director Kyle Rowling. After earning fight instructor status with the Sydney Stage Combat School, Richard went on to instruct the skills in stage combat to students at The National Institute of Performing Arts (NIDA).

As a keen improviser, Richard competed in the ‘THEATRESPORTS CRANSTON CUP’ in Sydney and went on to create and manage an improvised comedy troupe called ‘IMPROMEDY’ which provides workshops for community groups and training for corporate employees in team building skills.

Richard has travelled internationally as a Stilt Walker performing as a featured entertainer at events including THE SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX and also as a Fire Breather and Roving Entertainer for private functions and formal events; He is also a skilled ‘Master of Ceremonies’, moderating large crowds at The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, Sydney Town Hall, Sydney Exhibition Centre and Star Casino.

Richards has provided his vocal talents for corporate videos, online activations and commercials, he is part of the ‘SURGEONS OF HORROR PODCAST’ where a group of like-minded horror film buffs discuss horror films, culture and the latest releases.

Richard has entertained audiences in numerous theatrical performances, has directed numerous shows and dance sequences for productions including ‘DISNEY’S ALADDIN JNR’, ‘SPARKLESHARK’ and ‘ALICE THE PHYSICAL THEATRE EXPERIENCE’. Behind the camera, Richard was the first assistant director on the film ‘FISH FOR XMAS’ and ‘LOVE ALWAYS’, which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.

Richard has a vast array of experience in Visual Effects plus working as a freelance CG Artist and Editor for clients such as FOXTEL.

Richard owns and manages a Film and Digital Media business, Rushcutter Entertainment which has produced TV Pilots, Internet Promos and Show Reels for international clients.
