Denise Roberts

Denise Roberts has been a formidable force in the world of entertainment since 1980, excelling as a producer, director, actor, and author. Her illustrious career is studded with prestigious accolades, including an AFI Award, the International Variety Club of Australia Award, an AACTA nomination, three Silver Logie nominations, two People’s Choice nominations, a Film Critics Circle nomination, and a Sydney Theatre Critics nomination.

Roberts is best known for her iconic roles as Julie Winters on ABC’s ‘GP’ and Isabelle Turnbull on Channel 7’s ‘Always Greener.’ Beyond acting, she has made significant contributions as an author with her book, ‘Get Your Act Together: The Actor’s Advisory Manual,’ published by The Federation Press. Her directorial prowess was showcased in the highly acclaimed one-man play ‘Fully Committed’ at the Ensemble Theatre and ‘Lovers At Versailles’ at the Sydney Opera House’s Playhouse.

As the original concept creator and associate producer of the ABC drama series ‘Correlli,’ Roberts played a pivotal role in launching Hugh Jackman’s career, marking his first starring role. Her impressive resume also includes standout performances in the one woman theatre shows ‘Late Nite Catechism’ and ‘Shirley Valentine’, her other many theatre credits include the ‘The Vagina Monologues’ and ‘Charitable Intent’ for which she was nominated for a Theatre Critics Award.  Film and TV Credits include ‘Gods Favorite Idiot’, ‘Grey Nomads’, ‘Schapelle’, ‘Razzle Dazzle’, ‘Wild Side,’ ‘The Dish,’ and ‘Road To Nhill.’  Her directorial talent includes ‘Fully Committed’, ‘Educating Rita’ and ‘The Oldest Profession’ all for the Ensemble Theatre and she was further recognized when ‘Stairwell,’ a short thriller she directed, was selected for screening at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival.

Denise is a long term member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and she has been an International Emmy Award Judge every year since 2012.
