ROCKHAMPTON’S Link Tapsell could be the next big star of Home and Away or the next Australian blockbuster.

The budding Rockhampton actor has secured himself an exclusive spot at the Sydney acting school, Screenwise, giving him access to prominent Australian actors, producers and casting agents.

After submitting his application in June, Link was not very optimistic about his chances of being accepted.
“I didn’t think I was going to get in but as luck would have it I did,” Link said.
“From what I’ve been told only 10-15 applicants will be chosen out of the hundreds that apply.”

The school works closely with mentors who work on Australian shows like Home and Away, giving students the exposure they need to propel their careers.
“While you are there they also sort of act as your agent and will find you work in TV series that are being locally shot or commercials to help you pay for the course and get you out there and get some experience,” he said.

Link developed a love of acting at a young age, always taking part in school productions. He has since starred in local commercials and film productions.
Rockhampton production The Last Mile, which Link starred in, is now in LA floating across producers’ desks with the hope of being noticed.

Although he’d love to make it in the film industry, Link said it wasn’t the money or fame that drew him.
“The fame and fortune I’m not really fussed about. I just want to make movies that will change the way people see things,” Link said.

“Ultimately I just want to act. That’s what I enjoy – taking on a different character, learning about them and then portraying that on film and making people feel a certain way, or change the way they feel or revolutionise their ideologies about life.”
