Kate has worked in the Entertainment industry for the last 30 years acting and directing. The daughter of actors and having grown up literally under a dressing room table and on film sets, she started in the industry at a young age and landed her first lead role for Crawford Productions at 15 years of age. She went on to appear in more than 10 Feature films Including EVIL ANGELS, THE CRAIC, ACCIDENTS WILL HAPPEN, DENTALY DISTURBED, BLOWING HOT AND COLD, and YOU AND YOUR STUPID MATE. She has had lead and guest roles in over 30 TV programs including: CITY HOMICIDE, RUSH, VERY SMALL BUSINESS, HORACE AND TINA, THAT’S HUGE, RUSSELL GILBERT LIVE, SHOCK JOCK, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THAT GUY, CRASHBURN, KATH AND KIM, FULL FRONTAL and TOTALLY FULL FRONTAL, SHOCK JOCK, PIGS BREAKFAST, GET A LIFE, SHARK BAY, THE ZOO FAMILY and several years on our best loved Aussie Serials NEIGHBOURS. Kate has worked in theatre both here and in the UK touring the country with plays MACBETH, THE GAME OF MURDER, EDUCATING RITA, MEASURE FOR MEASURE, GASLIGHT, THE CASE OF THE FRIGHTENED LADY, GUYS AND DOLLS, SEVEN LITTLE AUSTRALIANS and other Musicals.
Kate trained when she was younger at The National Theatre in Melbourne and in her early 20’s she trained at HB Studios and Common Basis Theatre both in New York. 15 years ago Kate Re trained at AFTRS to become a director. She wrote and directed the award winning film ‘FIVE MOMENTS OF INFIDELITY’ which won – Best Film DIGISPAA, Best Film Salento IFF (Italy), Best film Idaho PIFF (USA), The film received further nominations for Best Screenplay, best direction and several best performances nominations.
In the last few years Kate has moved into documentary film making, co-producing and directing three documentaries in the last 5 years including THE FACE OF BIRTH – which had a limited worldwide theatrical release. Last year Kate directed two episodes of the documentary series BRINGING OUR STORIES HOME for the ABC which will air later this year, and she has also returned to the cast of NEIGHBOURS playing the role of Sue Parker that she created 25 years ago. Kate is currently with her husband and three children.
