During this time she has picked up accolades at every stage of her career, including an AFI Award, an International Variety Club of Australia Award, an ACCTA Nomination, 4 Silver Logie Nominations, 2 People’s Choice Nominations, a Film Critics Circle nomination and a Sydney Theatre Critics Nomination for Best Actress.

Denise was invited to stand as Patron of the Big Screen Film Festival for Asia, Queensland and Victoria hosted by the Australian Film Commission. In 2013 the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences invited Denise to participate as a judge for Best Actor in a television drama for their International Emmy Awards and in 2014, 2015 and 2016 she was on the judging panel for Best Actress.

We put Denise under the spotlight to answer five short questions around the acting craft:

When did you decide acting was for you?
When I was around 5 or 6 I was besotted with the comedy TV series Bewitched. Every week come hell or high water I would do anything not to miss an episode.  It transported me into the magical world of ‘Samantha’ played by Elizabeth Montgomery and I wanted to be a part of that magic. That’s when I realized I wanted to act.

Who are your favourite actors?
Tom Hardy is edgy and unpredictable. Meryl Streep is a chameleon and Sean Penn is volatile.
