Where to from here? The Screen Acting Advanced class is the final stage of the Screenwise Short Acting Course journey (Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced) and provides final touches to acting foundations so that you can begin applying your knowledge to screen. The Advanced Class is also useful for any established actor interested in brushing up or refining their technique with Robert Mammone.
The journey does not end, but begins with Screen Acting Advanced. Many of our short course graduates continue on with their journey by developing other skills such as American Accent and Presenting on Camera. Students are also encouraged to work towards paving their professional screen acting career through the One-Year Part-Time The Showreel Course and The 10065NAT Diploma of Screen Acting.
Screen Acting Advanced is a six-week intensive designed for actors wanting to extend or refine their acting technique in auditions and on set. Students who have progressed from Beginners and/or Intermediate Classes or have completed similar courses elsewhere will focus on building upon their existing acting foundations by analysing, rehearsing and performing scenes at an advanced level.
Screenwise classes are strictly boutique in size to ensure quality of delivery.
Students will explore monologue and scene work in depth, combined with the technical requirements for acting on screen and to meet the demands of today’s film and television standards.
To take part in the Advanced course you need to have:
Completed the Screen Acting Intermediate Course or an equivalent short course
Relevant Film, Theatre or Television Experience (CV will be required on application for selection).
The Technical Craft
Screen acting is as much a technical craft as a creative one. The Screen Acting Advanced Course is designed to start to give the awareness and knowledge you need to be aware of to work as a screen actor. Beyond the performance demands of screen acting, a screen actor needs to have an awareness of the technical aspect of performance, from hitting marks and working within the frame to nailing your eyelines. Taught by industry-leading film and television director the Screen Acting Advanced course will give you the technical tools you need to be able to follow direction on set.
Once you’ve completed the advanced course your journey is just beginning. Move on to the part-time Screenwise Showreel Course and kick-start your career with professionally shot showreel scenes and an introduction to navigating the business side of the industry. Or immerse yourself in the two-year full-time Advanced Diploma of Screen Acting to set yourself up with everything you need to begin a successful career as a screen actor.
During your application you will be asked to provide us with a CV outlining your prior acting experience. This includes any courses you have studied at Screenwise or another institution.
Complete the application form.
The Screen Acting Advanced Course will equip you with the foundational skills you need to navigate performing on a film set. But to gain more experience and equip yourself with skills to navigate the business side of the industry and to get a portfolio of work in a professional showreel student may consider continuing on to the part-time Screenwise Showreel Course or move into full time study and equip themselves with everything they need to begin a successful career as a screen actor in the full-time 10869NAT Advanced Diploma of Screen Acting.
