About the course

An invaluable intensive! – A combo of lecture course and on-your-feet emotional exercises, that build narrative, emotional, psychological character arc!

This Technique Intensive Workshop offers the most valuable elements of Lisa’s work that she uses to coach award-winning performances, through a comprehensive lecture guide to specific script analysis and breakdown – the actor will come away with a process and a step-by-step set of notes that will last them career-long – as well as Lisa’s “on-your-feet” character exploration and emotional exercises that ensure the actor will bring their unique “stamp” to every role.

The Technique Breakdown is culled from Lisa’s years of training with the best acting teachers that Australia, London and Los Angeles have to offer — from her fifteen years studying with master coach, Larry Moss — and, her now seventeen years of coaching actors in major roles for film and television.

Lisa philosophy: to act is to live. An actor uses their brain to get into their body, into the moment — and out of their head! Dynamic script analysis also leads to specific physical life and deeper layers of emotional truth.

The actor will leave the Technique Breakdown with a firm grasp of discovering super-objective (which Lisa calls the character’s, “Dream of Life”), uncovering inner and outer obstacle, building narrative and psychological arc, and with a concrete understanding of all-important active intention.

This is the “breakdown” work that Lisa utilizes when prepping and coaching leading performances, auditions and self-tapes. The actor will leave the intensive with a thorough understanding of Lisa’s “process.” Also, three films are also assigned to watch, prior to the Intensive, that Lisa then breaks down with the class.

Whether an actor newer to Lisa’s work, an experienced professional, or a writer/director (this is the work Lisa teaches in the prestigious Fim Independent Directing Lab and with pro directors prepping projects), this set of notes will last the artist, career-long.
