Will your American accent stand up to audition nerves and film set pressure? Does your American accent stand the test of a highly charged emotional scene? Is your American accent truly authentic or do you fluke it?

Screenwise’s American Accent Workshop is designed to give the actor ‘the edge’ when auditioning for American film and TV productions. At Screenwise, we teach actors the vocal gymnastics needed to obtain an authentic American accent. If you are serious about working as an actor, an American accent is a critical skill that you must develop – and retain.

An accent takes considerable time, commitment and muscle memory to learn. Which is why our workshop takes place each week for three hours over a period of five consecutive weeks.

Leading dialogue coach, Natasha McNamara will train actors in every aspect of American accent including:

* Phonetics – the shape of mouth, position of tongue, placement of voice
* Muscle memory – through repetition, weekly exercises and pre-class preparation
* Monologue and 2-hander scene work as actors learn to ‘embody the character with an accent’ and not ‘play the accent’
* Performances are recorded, accent analysed and refined in class

The American Accent workshop works exclusively on Standard American accent which is the most popular in overseas productions.
