About Michelle Danner
In 2000, Michelle and fellow acting coach Larry Moss founded Edgemar Center for the Arts, a top Los Angeles acting school and a two theatre and art gallery complex. The Larry Moss Acting Studio has been housed at Edgemar since the cutting of the ribbon in 2002 and has flourished and grown into what is now The Acting Studio at Edgemar.
The Edgemar Center for the Arts has been known for its acting studio and their more-than-famous Creative Director of nineteen years, Michelle Danner, who is not just coaching some of the biggest names in Hollywood but is also a director poised to launch her new movie Hello Herman.
The uniqueness and efficacy of Ms. Danner’s teaching comes from decades of experience as an actor, director and acting coach to some of Hollywood’s most successful and respected actors. Christian Slater, Meryl Streep, Zooey Deschanel, Gerard Butler, Penelope Cruz, Steven Spielberg, James Franco, Chris Rock, Sally Field, Helen Hunt and Salma Hayek as well as Australia’s very own Grant Bowler and Isla Fischer are amongst many of Michelle’s star clients.
She has trained personally with Stella Adler and Uta Hagen and teaches internationally in Europe, Toronto, Vancouver, Dubai, New York and now Sydney.
Michelle has directed and acted in over thirty plays and musicals in New York and Los Angeles. Her highlights at Edgemar Center for the Arts have been pioneering new works including producing The Night of the Black Cat, winner of the 2005 Best Musical of the Year at the Los Angeles Music Awards. She directed Mental the Musical, which was given a world premiere and received several 17th Annual Ticket Holder awards for acting and musical score. Last year she wrote and directed the world premiere of You’re on the Air, an improv-based comedy which is under development to become a movie. She directed the West Coast premiere of Hello Herman by John Buffalo Mailer and co-directed with Jane Fonda in The Court of Public Opinion starring Anne Archer. Her credits include Critics Pick for Tennessee William’s The Rose Tattoo, five Dramalogue awards including Best Actress and most recently the Rainbow Award, awarded by Los Angeles’ Women in Theatre. She is currently starring in a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts.
In 2006 she made her feature film-directing debut with How to go Out on a Date in Queens, winner of four LA Film Awards including Best Director. It starred Jason Alexander, Esai Morales, Ron Perlman, Kimberly Williams, Rob Estes, and Alison Eastwood. Following its theatrical release the film has since become available on video and has aired nationwide in the US as the Sunday night Movie of the Week during the 2008 Memorial Day weekend.
Michelle is the founding director of Edgemar Center for the Arts and raised $1.3 million with the help of benefactors like Steven Spielberg – which went to the construction of the two theatres and the art gallery at the Center. She is currently the Artistic Director of the Center as well as Edgemar Center for the Art’s resident theatre company, The Edgemar Theatre Group, whose season she oversees. Her production company, Capricorn Films, is in development for several film projects including You’re on the Air, The Bandit Hound, and The Will To.

Happy New Year Everyone!
Well we’re off to a huge start this year with L.A. acting coach to the stars Michelle Danner who arrives in March to hold two Master Intensives for Screenwise – The Golden Box and Audition Technique. Both Intensives run over two full days.
Michelle and Larry Moss founded the Edgemar Center for the arts in L.A. in 2000. The Larry Moss Acting Studio where Michelle and Larry coached together has been housed there since the cutting of the ribbon in 2002 and has grown into what is now ‘The Acting Studio at Edgemar’. When I was in L.A. I had the privilege of a private screening of Michelle’s new feature film Hello Herman which she also produced as well as directed, starring the wonderful Norman Reedus and an amazing young actor Garrett Backstrom. What a performance piece for the actors, a sensational film!
I am very excited to be able to offer you these two inspiring intensive workshops. Both Michelle and I have done our absolute utmost to keep the costs down so Australian actors have the opportunity to work intimately with one of L.A.’s finest.
On another note: The CEO Cookoff is a joint initiative of OzHarvest & Qantas. The event will bring together celebrity chefs & CEO’s to raise awareness around food security, the plight of homelessness & youth in crisis, whilst raising much needed funds for OzHarvest, The Big Issue & ONE80TC.
Screenwise has donated $1500 to register, and as CEO, I will be participating in the Cookoff. I’m hoping that some good samaritans out there will help Screenwise support this extremely worthy cause and donate something no matter how small. If everyone on our database donated even $2 this would make such a difference.

I wish you all a happy, harmonious, creative and productive 2013.
Until next time…
